EDITOR
*
The EDIT switch must be on to make changes.
*
To select the operator you wish to edit,
select one of the four operator select
buttons. These four buttons are located
in the block of switches which appear in
the lower right portion of the control
panel. Each button contains a sine wave
enclosed in a ring, with a numeral (
1,2,3 or 4) next to it. When one of
these operator select buttons is
selected, all of the panel controls will
change to reflect the settings of that
operator. In other words, you only get
to see / edit one operator at a time.
*
The HELP or ESCAPE keys will force a
grey scale palette.
*
The F1 key on the keyboard toggles the
image display window between two
different modes. In one mode, the
animation is displayed. In the other, a
graphic display of the four operators is
presented. In addition to the four
operator waves, a fifth wave is
displayed on the right which shows how the four
operator waves are mixed together for
control of the animation.
*
The F2 key on the keyboard toggles
between panel display modes. In one
mode, all of the panel controls are
shown. In the other mode, all of the
panel controls are hidden. When you are
turning the panel controls back on, the
program disk MUST be present. It may
take a few seconds for the panel control
graphics to reappear.
*
Typewriter keys A through Z are used to
select one of the 26 presets. For CDTV
users without a keyboard, the keys
q,w,e,r,t,y,u,i,o, and p can also be
selected with the numeric keypad keys
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 0.
*
The panel control marked EDIT is used
to toggle the editing mode on and off.
EDIT must be turned on if you want to
edit any of the operators. When EDIT is
turned off, none of the operator panel
controls will have any effect. Above the
EDIT key, is the letter of the preset
that is being edited.
*
There are two controls marked COPY.
These are used to: copy one operator to
another, or copy one preset to another.
Each of these buttons has arrows
indicating what will be copied. When the
operator copy is turned on, the current
operator settings will be copied to the
next operator you select. When you are
finished making copies, you need to turn
the copy button off. When the preset
COPY button is turned on, the current
preset will be copied to any preset you
select with the keyboard. Remember to
turn this button off when you're
finished making copies.
*
Along the top edge of the control panel
are the letters A through Z. This
provides an alternative to pressing the
keyboard keys. Selecting one of these
letters with the cursor, will have the
same affect as pressing the key on the
keyboard. Because this part of the
screen is on the screen-drag-bar, you
may want to press the mouse button while
the cursor IS NOT over the letters and
then move the cursor up to the desired
key. By doing this, you can then slide
the cursor over multiple letters
allowing quick preset changes. Note:
these screen keys don't work with the
preset copy function key. You are
required to press the keyboard keys to
make copies.
*
On the right side of the screen, in the
center, are five indicators which move
to show you what each operator is doing.
Each of the four shorter ones correspond
to one of the four operators. The fifth
shows the mixture which is being applied
to the animation. These indicators show
the same thing that the F1 key mode
shows, but without the time dimension.
